A truly global influence and recognition....

The St Martin's Guild is mourning the loss of Roderick W Pipe, one of our greatest and most influential members.

Rod was a true giant of the Exercise.  His contributions as a ringer, composer, conductor, leader and innovative thinker were incalculable and in many ways he was years ahead of his time.  He always demanded high standards of ringing and striking and he was instrumental in raising the bar in Birmingham to a new level, the effects of which remain evident today.  A huge number of aspiring ringers in Birmingham and elsewhere benefitted from his coaxing and encouragement.  He will be remembered with awe and affection by all those of us who were privileged to know him.

Our deepest sympathies go to Mary, brother George, David, Helen and all the Pipe family.
